Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.We are currently seeking a Structural Design Engineer for our Metal Structures/Joints and Seals team in our Promontory, UT offices.Role description & Responsibilities:The Structural Design Engineer is responsible for aiding the development of hardware design of flight and static test hardware for rocket motor metal components and related structures:Contribute to major design activities and coordinate technical effortsCreate designs for future rocket motor metal products and joints and sealsDevelop engineering documentation products (drawings, specifications, design and analysis reports, test plans, test reports, etc.)Oversee and plan testing for development and qualification of flight hardware productsJob Duties:Design major rocket motor metal componentsDesign associated components and structures to achieve lowest cost from design and lean manufacturing principlesPlan and oversee material characterization testing of materials used in the design of rocket structuresPerform simple joints/seals analysis to support the design of flight hardware and test articles using especially designed toolsPerform assessment and develop disposition of discrepant hardware (MRB) and hardware anomaliesCreate engineering drawings and specifications to define design for hardware fabrication, write test plans, support fabrication efforts, oversee testing, analyze test data and make revisions to design based on resultsCreate and maintain standard design processesExperience Requirements:Candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of related engineering design experience with a BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil (Structural) Engineering or equivalent. BS degree with 2 years of experience or an MS degree is required.Experience Preferred:Knowledgeable of NG/SP engineering drafting process is a plusExperience in metal forging processes is a plusExperience in machine shop operations is a plusKnowledgeable of Siemens NX is a plusSkills & Qualifications:Broad understanding of metallic materials/structures in design and processingStrong skills in CAD including GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis and drawing preparation skillsExcellent written and oral communication skillsExcellent time management and organizational skillsDetail oriented but able to understand the big pictureEducation/CertificationsBS/MS degree in Mechanical, Civil or Aerospace Engineering required.Position can be filled one level higher, BS and 5 years or MS and 3 years.Salary Range: 70600 - 105800Salary Range 2: 87400 - 131200Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
