Department of Juvenile Corrections is seeking a Licensed Practical
Nurse in St. Anthony, Idaho. If you are interested in making a

you.This position provides practical nursing services and medical
care for juveniles including evaluating, treating and referring
juveniles' medical needs, dispensing medication, arranging for
ancillary medical services, maintaining medical records and reports
and educating juveniles and staff regarding health care issues and

JUVENILE CORRECTIONS, ST. ANTHONYJCC-St. Anthony provides a highly
structured, staff-secure program using a positive peer model for
the custody and treatment of male and female juveniles who have a
history of various crimes, and have failed in less secure
community-based programs and facilities. The JCC-St. Anthony
program follows the fundamental values of the five pillars
(targeted treatment, education, counseling, family engagement, and
skills building) to develop productive citizens. The program also
offers cognitive skills building to alter their criminal patterns
of thought and requires juveniles to be accountable daily for their
behavior and progress through the program.Staff and juveniles
continually work together to create a safe and secure environment
that is conducive to making the changes necessary for juveniles to
be able to return to their communities with the skills and values
that will give them the opportunity to be successful
citizens.JCC-St. Anthony has adopted the following operational
principles:
- Juveniles are expected to demonstrate by their behavior and
performance that they are prepared for increased responsibility and
freedom in the community.
- Our program facilitates interaction and involvement between
juveniles and their home communities.
- Performs practical nursing care or assists a registered nurse
or physician in routine to complex situations.
- Observes, records, and reportsjuveniles treatment, care,
symptoms, physical and mental condition, behavior and
progress.
- Administers prescribed medications and injections, observes for
adverse reactions.
- Charts administered medications, symptoms, accidents, unusual
behavior, doctors' visits and observed side effects of drugs.
- Interviewsjuveniles to obtain health information and instructs
and counselsresidents regarding basic health needs.
- Provides basic health education to juveniles and employees
onhealth care issues and disease prevention
- This positionworks in a 24/7 facility and may workrotating
shifts.
- Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the state of Idaho or
state licensure as a Practical Nurse pursuant to the Nurse
Licensure Compact, Idaho Code 54-1418, in one of the following
compact states: Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Iowa,
Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New
Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Rhode Island,
South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, or
Wisconsin.
- Willing to work in a juvenile corrections facility.
- Must meet federal PREA requirements (see exam for more
information).CONDITIONAL OFFER OF HIRE:
- The Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections is a drug-free
work environment. Immediately after a conditional offer of
employment has been extended (before 5:00 pm of the day of the
offer), a hire must test free of drugs as a condition of
employment.
- Upon an offer of conditional employment, a hire must complete a
criminal history background investigation including, but not
limited to a criminal history fingerprint check, and child abuse
registry check.
- Hires will be required to take and pass a TB test during the
