Job Description:

Lancashire County Council has an exciting and challenging building programme. This includes schools, libraries and public buildings. We also undertake maintenance and refurbishment of an extensive property portfolio, including traditional masonry, precast concrete system buildings, steel frames or timber frame construction. We are looking to appoint enthusiastic, skilled individuals to join our team of Structural Engineers, delivering a wide variety of schemes, working closely with our in-house multi-disciplinary teams of Architects, Surveyors, M&E Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, and Project Managers. The post is a permanent full-time role based at County Hall, Preston. You will undertake structural engineering design and contribute to the management of a range of new-build, refurbishment and maintenance projects. You will have detailed knowledge of structural engineering design and analysis, including relevant design standards. You will have experience of specialist computer software packages for structural analysis (e.g. Tekla Tedds or Masterseries) and drafting (e.g. AutoCAD). You will be aware of construction health and safety requirements. As described earlier you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team engaged on common projects, so excellent communications skills and a customer focused approach to service delivery are essential. At Assistant Structural Engineer level you are expected to meet our qualification requirements and have some relevant post-graduate experience so that you can work independently with minimal supervision. The team also undertake local authority duties under the Safety at Sports Grounds Act. This role will take up to 10% of your workload for which appropriate training will be provided.
