career today. Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Senior
Principal Engineer Manufacturing. This position is located in Roy,
UT and supports Advanced Programs. Once production work begins,
this position would have the opportunity to relocate to Ogden, UT
as the primary work location. We anticipate this occurring in
approximately Q3 of 2025.What You'll Get To Do:The Hypersonic Test
Bed (HTB) program team is looking for a manufacturing engineer to
lead the integration and assembly of prototype and flight test
reentry vehicles. The selected candidate will be involved in all
aspects of this production lifecycle, from analyzing initial
designs for producibility, affordability, and integration to
authoring manufacturing plans for use in a new manufacturing
facility. In this role you will work closely with Design, Test,
Quality, and Program management to develop manufacturing plans,
work instructions, visual aids, and processes to build the
Hypersonic Test Beds and meet all system requirements. Specific
duties to include, but are not limited to the following:
- Act as the technical point of contact for manufacturing
engineering on the program team
- Resolve complex process issues
- Coordinate with the integration team on day-to-day
activities
- Troubleshoot existing processes to improve safety, quality,
cost and efficiency
- Provide manufacturing technical expertise to design team
- Educate and train operators on new and existing processes
- Develop manufacturing plans, work instructions, visual aids,
and manufacturing processes
- Act as a leader on the team and have understanding that
erroneous decisions on their part will result in probable delay and
failure of organizational objectivesPosition Benefits: As a

positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule
allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday
to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive
relocation assistance package.You'll Bring These Qualifications:
- 8 Years related experience with Bachelors in Science; 6 Years
with Masters; 4 Years with PhD. 4 additional years of relevant
experience may be considered in lieu of degree
- Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security
clearance at time of application, current and within scope
- Experiences supporting Reentry Vehicle or Missile Assemblies as
a Manufacturing Engineer
- Ability to represent the organization as a technical contact,
interact with senior personnel on important technical matters, and
help with coordination between organizations
- Experience developing processes by studying requirements;
researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing
methods and equipment
- Experience assessing complex designs for producibility,
affordability, and integration
- Experience in the design and procurement of specialized tools,
and fixtures
- Experience investigating root cause of discrepancies and
implementing corrective actions.
- Proficient with Siemens NX, Manufacturing Execution System
(MES), and SAP
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Products
- Capable of working with minimal direction, independently
determines and develops technical objectives of assignments, and
presents work upon completion for high level reviewThese
Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
- Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in STEM or an engineering
discipline such as Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing,
Aerospace, etc.
- Previous experience taking a project from initial design to
prototype & testing to full rate production
- An understanding of Manufacturing Readiness Assessment's and
establishing Manufacturing Readiness Levels per DoD customer
requirements
- Demonstrated Project Management experience
- Ability to provide and implement technical solutions to
advanced problems which require ingenuity and innovation
- Comfortable coordinating and to communicating with senior
leaders and government personnelSalary Range: $107,800 -
$161,800The above salary range represents a general guideline;
however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when
determining base salary offers such as the scope and
responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience,
education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the
position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift
differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as
well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in
Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term
Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of
benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability
insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off
