Works closely with Engineers preparing designs and drawings of a
complex nature. Assures that anticipated problems in manufacture,
assembly, installation and operation of equipment are resolved by
the designs produced. May serve as a coordinator/ planner for
design projects. Expert 3D CAD user.
Analyzes engineering sketches, customer specifications and related
data to determine design impact. Applies personal creative
conceptual abilities to this process.
Uses AutoCAD Electrical to interface with 3D modeling software
(NX). Designs for assembly in our factory. Experience with any of
the following a plus - Siemens NX, ProE Wildfire, Solid Works,
Develops layouts of systems, creating detail drawings of
installations with dimensions in appropriate tolerances. Populates
line lists with cable lengths, wiring specifications, line numbers
and references to drawing sheet numbers.
Verifies that electrical designs meet all customer specifications
and contractual agreements.
Verifies that electrical design complements mechanical design to
assure of the product.
Modifies existing drawings to reflect changes for production
Verifies that drafting is accurate, legible and compliant to
applicable electrical industry standards.
Drafts detailed multi-view drawings of assemblies, subassemblies
and mono-details as required for panel layouts, wire routing plans
in 3-D electrical models and/or component details.
Uses thorough knowledge of electrical codes and standards in
everyday design work.
Compiles and analyzes test data to determine effect of various
factors on design. May design and execute engineering tests of
components or assemblies.
Prepares bills of material for components and assemblies properly
Prepares Engineering Orders, Change Notices, and other engineering
Investigates engineering design/ production problems and initiates
Must be able/ willing to adhere to Engineering Department
procedures in the context of both general production and/ or
Must be able to function in a team-based environment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree (A.A.) or
equivalent from a two-year college or university in Engineering or
a Technician Trade School Certificate; or partial completion of an
Engineering degree or Trade School and two years of related
experience; or three years experience in the Technician field
(Mechanical or Electrical). Two years experience with O.E.M.
manufacturing is also required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general
business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures,
or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business
correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively
present information and respond to questions from groups of
managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts
such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of
plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply
concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data,
establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret
an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or
diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete
COMPUTER SKILLS: This position requires the following computer
skills: AutoCAD Electrical, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access.
Experience with Syteline, Team Center, Siemens NX a plus.
